Susa, treaty of, 1629. In 1627 Charles I, already at war with Spain, began a conflict with Louis XIII of France. Attempts to relieve the Huguenot port of La Rochelle, besieged by Richelieu's troops, having failed, peace was made at Susa in Savoy in April 1629. Louis and Charles agreed not to interfere in the religious affairs of each other's kingdoms.
