Dungeness, battle of, 1652. A sharp naval action during the first Anglo-Dutch War. Tromp, on convoy duty in the channel, attacked Blake off Dungeness on 30 November. Blake was obliged to break off the encounter with some losses and the Dutch convoys went through unscathed.
