Kadesh (oasis, ancient Palestine)

Kadesh (kā´dĕsh) or Kadesh-barnea (–bärnē´ə), oasis in the desert S of ancient Palestine, mentioned frequently in the Bible, notably as a limit of Edom. Another biblical name is En-mishpat.

Kadesh (ancient city of Syria)

Kadesh (kā´dĕsh), ancient city of Syria, on the Orontes River. There Ramses II fought (c.1300 BC) the Hittites in a great battle that ended in a truce.
