PERSONAL

Full name, Bradley Barron Renfro; born July 25, 1982, in Knoxville, TN; died of an accidental heroin overdose, January 15, 2008, in Los Angeles, CA. Actor. Renfro was only ten when he was picked to play the part of a gutsy witness against the Mafia alongside Susan Sarandon in the 1994 legal thriller The Client. Even with his lack of acting experience, Renfro won a Young Artist Award for his performance. Subsequent acting offers quickly came his way, and in 1995 Renfro won acclaim for his touching performances as best friend to a boy with AIDS in The Cure and for his comedic turn as Huck Finn in Tom and Huck. Renfro also won a Young-Star Award in 1996 for his role as the younger Michael Sullivan, Brad Pitt's revenge-seeking character in the crime drama Sleepers. In 1998 Renfro starred in Apt Pupil, a disturbing film adaptation of a Stephen King novel about a boy tutored in evil by an elderly Nazi war criminal. At the time of his death, Renfro had completed filming on The Informers with Winona Ryder and Billy Bob Thornton.
