Chandos's series of operas in English is going to have to do better by early Verdi than this. Anthony Peattie's translation mostly sits well enough in the principals' mouths - though it seems to impede their ability to shape long lines - but the bandits', courtiers' and conspirators' choruses all sound similar, too generically formal.
