Mayor Giuliani has responded--to my knowledge for the first time--to the charge that Charles Posner, the man he appointed to a criminal court position at the end of 1995, attempted to suborn perjury in the Crown Heights case. (First raised by Peter Noel in a 1994 Voice story, this charge resurfaced on WCBS-TV when Posner took his judicial post.) When two callers raised the topic on Giuliani's Friday morning WABC radio show, the mayor, adopting a hauhty tone, said: "This was looked into and found not to have any basis....Charles Posner was cleared of that by the bar association."
