Gladden the bride's heart

I vividly recall my mother hunched over her seemingly turn-of-the-century style Singer sewing machine, careful not to make any mistakes in the tiny stitches of her handiwork.

Soon I was the proud owner of a handmade wedding dress for my Barbie doll. That was my first close encounter with a wedding gown, though it was not to be the last.

I therefore jumped when offered the opportunity to collect wedding dresses for women in need in Israel. The Wedding Dress Project is a gemilut chesed (act of lovingkindness) endeavor sponsored by the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism in Jerusalem.
