Theory for the pmcticing-artist is not strictly scientific in method. Its place in relationship to practice is, if prioritized, secondary rather than primary. The practical work is not simply equivalent to the experiment which proves or disproves the theory. While it might seek "generality"... its most consistently valuable function has been in stimulating, generating and critically guiding the development of practice.
