The curtain rises January 13 on the world premiere of Dreamkeepers, commissioned by Utah Opera to commemorate the hundredth year of Utah's statehood. The opera, by composer David Carlson and librettist Aden Ross, focuses on the Ute Indians, who have inhabited the eastern portion of Utah for thousands of years. Dreamkeepers explores their ongoing struggle to preserve their traditions in a changing, often hostile world. Without borrowing wholesale, the opera's creators have included authentic Ute material in score, libretto and mise-en-scene.

The anti-clockwise lives of limpets ; In the groove. Not a particularly old term, but for limpets living on rocks around our coast, a groove is home. The limpet clings firmly to the surface of a rock by its muscular sucker and the suction is so great and constant that the shell rim wears away an oval-shaped groove in the rock.
