When Jim Mooney, Jim Elash and Jeff Winterbourne left Herre Bros. Inc. and opened their own heating, ventilation and air-conditioning service company in 2002, they decided they wanted to be a union shop. They bucked a trend nationwide and in Pennsylvania, and they say it is paying off.
