Previous work has shown that 13-hydroxylated gibberellins (GAs) are predominant in the long-day (LD) plant spinach (Spinacia oleracea; GA^sub 53^, GA^sub 44^, GA^sub 19^, GA^sub 20^, GA^sub 1^, GA^sub 8^, and GA^sub 29^). Also present in spinach are 2β-hydroxylated C^sub 20^-GAs: GA^sub 97^, GA^sub 98^, GA^sub 99^, and GA^sub 110^. Levels of the most abundant GA, GA^sub 97^, decreased when plants were transferred from short photoperiods (SD) to LD. When [^sup 14^C]GA^sub 53^ was fed to s...

16,17-Dihydro Gibberellin A^sub 5^ Competitively Inhibits a Recombinant Arabidopsis GA 3[beta]-Hydroxylase Encoded by the GA4 Gene
Plant Physiology ; Ring D-modified gibberellin (GA) A^sub 5^ and A^sub 20^ derivatives are structurally similar to GA^sub 20^ and GA^sub 9^ (the precursors to growth-active GA^sub 1^ and GA^sub 4^) and, when applied to higher plants, especially grasses, can reduce shoot growth with concomitant reductions in levels of
New Sequences of Phase Transition in Ni-Mn-Ga Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Nanoparticles
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions ; In-situ high-energy X-ray diffraction was used for tracing the structural transitions in Ni^sub 2^MnGa and Ni^sub 47^Mn^sub 25^Ga^sub 22^Co^sub 6^ nanoparticles that were prepared by a ball-milling and subsequent annealing process. A decrease in martensitic transformation temperature was evidenced
Thermodynamics of Ca-Ga alloys
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions ; I. INTRODUCTION IN the pyrochemical processes involving actinide metals, it is necessary to recover the actinides left in the spent molten salt after the completion of the process.[1] The recovered actinides will be recycled when the amounts are large and discarded as waste when the amounts are
Long-Term Submergence-Induced Elongation in Rumex palustris Requires Abscisic Acid-Dependent Biosynthesis of Gibberellin^sub 1^1
Plant Physiology ; Rumex palustris (polygonceae) responds to complete submergence with enhanced elongation of its youngest petioles. This process requires the presence of gibberellin (GA) and is associated with an increase in the concentration of GA^sub 1^ in elongating petioles. We have examined how GA biosynthesis
Crystal Structures and Textures in the Hot-Forged Ni-Mn-Ga Shape Memory Alloys
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions ; Three ferromagnetic shape-memory alloys with the chemical compositions of Ni^sub 53^Mn^sub 25^Ga^sub 22^, Ni^sub 48^Mn^sub 30^Ga^sub 22^, and Ni^sub 48^Mn^sub 25^Ga^sub 22^Co^sub 5^ were prepared by the induction-melting and hot-forging process. The crystal structures were investigated by the
Technical Note: Vaginal Absorption of 1,25(OH)^sub 2^D^sub 3^ in Cattle
Journal of Dairy Science ; ABSTRACT Although exogenous 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D^sub 3^ [1,25(OH)^sub 2^D^sub 3^] administered via intravenous, intramuscular, and oral routes has been tested for efficacy in preventing parturient hypocalcemia in dairy cows, there are few reports concerning intravaginal administration. For this
GA^sub 3^ content in young and mature antheridia of Chara tomentosa estimated by capillary electrophoresis
Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica ; Abstract: The content of gibberellic acid (GA^sub 3^) in male sex organs of Chara tomentosa L. was estimated using capillary electrophoresis. Young antheridia contained 0.25 g GA^sub 3^ while mature ones 0.48 g per antheridium. Although there are significant differences in GA^sub 3^ content in
Coarsening Behavior of Ni^sub 3^Ga Precipitates in Ni-Ga Alloys: Dependence of Microstructure and Kinetics on Volume Fraction
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions ; Coarsening of Ni^sub 3^Ga precipitates in binary Ni-Ga alloys containing 14.89 and 18.31 at. pct Ga, aged at 628 C, was investigated using transmission electron microscopy and magnetic analysis. The equilibrium volume fractions, f^sub e^, of Ni^sub 3^Ga were 0.053 and 0.486, respectively. The rate
Regulation of Serotonin Biosynthesis by the G Proteins G[alpha]^sub o^ and G[alpha]^sub q^ Controls Serotonin Signaling in Caenorhabditis elegans
Genetics ; ABSTRACT To analyze mechanisms that modulate serotonin signaling, we investigated how Caenorhabditis elegans regulates the function of serotonergic motor neurons that stimulate egg-laying behavior. Egg laying is inhibited by the G protein Gα^sub o^ and activated by the G protein Gα^sub
