High Molecular Weight Poly(ethylene oxide)-Based Drug Delivery Systems: Part I: Hydrogels and Hydrophilic Matrix Systems
|
Polyethylene oxide resins are non-ionic, high molecular weight, water-soluble polymers with good hydrophilicity. Their use in controlled-release delivery systems has gained recent interest, and several oral drug delivery systems based on hydrophilic matrix and hydrogels have been successfully commercialized. The authors review the properties and use of PEO in hydrogels and hydrophilic matrix systems.
