Polyethylene oxide resins are non-ionic, high molecular weight, water-soluble polymers with good hydrophilicity. Their use in controlled-release delivery systems has gained recent interest, and several oral drug delivery systems based on hydrophilic matrix and hydrogels have been successfully commercialized.
