Blueschist facies rocks are known from two suture zones in the Western Carpathians, the Meliata unit and the Pieniny Klippen Belt. In the Meliata unit, blueschists are exposed on surface, but in the Klippen Belt only pebbles of different blueschist varieties were found in the Middle Cretaceous conglomerates. Based on paleogeographic reconstruction (Dercourt et al., 1990; Kozur and Mock, 1997; Channel and Kozur, 1996; Plasienka, 1997; Stampfli, et al., 1998; Neugebauer, 2001), the Meliata unit...

Origin and Metamorphic Evolution of Blueschists and Very Low-Grade Rocks of the Meliata Unit, Western Carpathians
Geolines
; Numerous petrological data on the blueschist facies rocks of the Meliata Unit have been obtained during the last decade (e.g. Faryad, 1995, Ivan and Kronome, 1996). Recently we have examined the very low-grade rocks (Arkai et al., 2003), which occur in the vicinity of this unit and obtained new

Evolutionary Model for Exhumation of the Meliata Blueschists, Western Carpathians (Slovakia)
Geolines
; Convergence of the African related continental blocks with southern margin of the European plate resulted in closure of the Tethyan Triassic oceanic basins and formation of suture zone with occurrences of high-pressure rocks that can be traced from the Western Carpathians through Rhodopian to

New Occurrence of Variscan Micaschists within the Jurassic Meliata Unite, Western Carpathians
Geolines
; PT conditions of the middle Jurassic metamorphism in the Meliata rocks, exposed on surface, range from very low-grade through high-pressure greenschist to blueschist facies. Amphibolite facies rocks (garnet-hornblende gneiss and amphibolite from Rudnik and micaschist from Zadiel) occurring in the

Structural contacts in subduction complexes and their tectonic significance: the Late Palaeozoic coastal accretionary wedge of central Chile
Journal of the Geological Society
; Abstract: Understanding the contact between the very low-grade metagreywacke of the Eastern Series and high-pressure metamorphosed schist of the Western Series in the Late Palaeozoic accretionary wedge of central Chile is fundamental for the understanding of the evolution of ancient accretionary

The Early Miocene Olistostromes and "Old Styrian Overthrusting" in the Polish Western Carphatians
Geolines
; The Lower Miocene, autochthonous deposits from the basement of the Flysch Western Carpathians in Poland have been known since the late 1970's. The deposits were documented in the following deep boreholes: Bielsko 4, Sucha IG 1, Zawoja 1, Lachowice 1, 2, 3a, 7, Cieszyn IG 1, Bielowicko IG 1 and

Palaeozoic accretionary and convergent tectonics of the southern Altaids: implications for the growth of Central Asia
Journal of the Geological Society
; The southern Altaids present a unidirectional section from Mongolia to China through an accretionary orogen that youngs progressively from Neoproterozoic in the north to Permian in the south. The orogen formed by forearc accretion of island arcs, accretionary wedges, ophiolites and Precambrian

High Pressure and Low Temperature Metamorphism along the North-Eastern Margin of the Bohemian Massif
Geolines
; Several occurrences of high-pressure low-temperature rocks are known from the northern and western margins of the Bohemian Massif. They form a discontinuous belt rimming the KrkonoseJizera complex from east and south and occur also in the Krusn hory Mts. In the later, only relicts of blue amphibole

Geochronological Constraints of Mesozoic and Tertiary Reworking of Paleozoic Basement Units in SW Carpathians
Geolines
; We present a set of twenty new K-Ar cooling ages from metamorphic rocks of Vepor and Gemer units. The rocks have been collected in agreement with recently defined structural succession of deformations in southern part of West Carpathians (Lexa and Schulmann 2003). These authors interpreted the
