Pre-Columbian exhibit renewed at Museo

The Pyramid of the Magicians in Uxmal, Mexico is a breathtaking edifice. It is 120 feet wide, 240 feet long and nearly 120 feet tall. Its stairways and temples face east and west, true to the belief system of its early inhabitants. The word Uxmal translates to "built three times" in the Mayan tongue. Carbon dating indicates the structure was initiated in 569 A.D., though some authorities believe the site is much, much older. It was most likely completed between 900 and 1000 A.D. It is a most unusual pyramid with a rectangular base and a oval top.
