The influences of mood and gender on the level of risk taking that people advise for others was examined. Music was used to create positive and negative moods in male and female participants who were asked to give risk-taking advice to others for typically cautious and risky situations. As expected, the influence of mood and gender on advice for risk decisions was dependent on the nature of the situation and on whether the situation was considered risky or cautious.
