A classroom demonstration of temperature & wind effects on plant transpiration
|
The purpose of this demonstration is to show students how wind and temperature can influence the rate of transpiration in a plant. Students can infer how drought conditions can reduce the amount of water in the soil and in the plant, and the role of plants in accelerating drought conditions during moderate dry spells. Food coloring can be used, as with tradition, to show the migration of water through the plant stem. The activity can be used for all grades, especially grades 5-14.
