The recurrent failure of rains has begun to threaten the centuries-old customs of the Bhils, the dominant tribal community in Rajasthan's Udaipur district. One such custom is a unique month-long festival called Gauri. The celebration of this festival has been declining over the years, and many young tribal people feel that in the post-drought economic context, its days are numbered. Besides, food insecurity has changed the tribal way of life in many other ways.
