Yairah Amit bases her book on lectures she gave at Tel Aviv University on history, narrative, and ideology in the Hebrew Bible. The lectures were adapted for a series of talks for the "Broadcast University" of the Israeli Defence Forces Radio and then were published as an introduction to historiography in the Hebrew Bible.
