Silk apparel export incentives cut
|
Lump sum refund of taxes paid on inputs is provided under a scheme called Duty Exemption Pass Book (DEPB) scheme. Exporters of silk apparel get a credit equivalent to 15% of FOB value of their exports in their DEPB accounts, which they can use for paying customs duty on imports of any and all products. This credit is also transferable. An exporter holding a DEPB credit of Rs. 1 million can sell it to an importer of any and all products and the importer, in turn, can use the credit for paying customs duty on his imports.
