In October 2001, the Army National Guard's 29th Infantry Division will take command of the American peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-a historical milestone which builds on the success of the March 2000 deployment of the 49th Armored Division from Texas that, for the first time since the Korean War, led active component forces while deployed in Bosnia. What is significant is that 70 percent of the 4,200 U.S. Army personnel in Stabilization Force (SFOR) 10 will be Reserve-component soldiers from 13 states serving in both headquarters and operational units.
