Summary. A taxonomic revision of the palm genus Rhopaloblaste (Arecaceae: Arecoideae: Areceae) is presented. Six species are recognised: R. augusta from the Nicobar Islands, R. singaporensis in the Malay Peninsula and Singapore, R. ceramica which occurs from the Moluccas through to New Guinea, R. ledermanniana in New Guinea, R. elegans in the Solomon Islands and a new species described herein, Rhopaloblaste gideonii Banka, from New Ireland in Papua New Guinea.
