Cement shipments by producers and importers rebounded in 2003 by 3.7 Mt (4 million st), up 4 percent from 2002. Nearly all of that was domestically produced.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that producers of gray and white portland cement, blended cement and masonry cements shipped 114.86 Mt (126.6 million st). This occurred in spite of last year's forecast of a 1.2-percent decline.
