Inn plans $1M expansion

GROTON - The owners of the Benn Conger Inn - a Colonial Revival and Victorian-style bed and breakfast in Groton - are planning a $1 million expansion to double its size and boost annual revenue.

Peter and Alison van der Meulen, who bought the Benn Conger Inn in 1990, envision building a series of cottages on the north side of the inn's 20 acres of rolling property as well as constructing an indoor pool and spa. The project, which is still in the early planning stages, would increase the inn's number of rooms from 10 to 20, and could be done in two or three stages, says Alison van der Meulen. ...
