Setting the Record Straight: The First Black Faculty Member at the United States Air Force Academy

In the Spring 2003 issue of JBHE, we reported that the first black faculty member at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs was James Moore. Professor Moore was appointed instructor of electrical engineering at the academy in 1967. In 1980 Moore, then a full professor, was named founding chair of the department of computer science at the academy. He retired seven years later, in 1987.
