Saint Bonaventure, like his fellow Italian Saint Thomas Aquinas, was for a time a professor at the University of Paris. They both died in the same year, 1274. Like all of the Parisian masters, Bonaventure left behind a substantial corpus of writings: the standard commentary on the Sentences of Peter Lombard, collations on a variety of topics, a series of sermons, and some commentaries on various books of scripture.
