House breathes life into FARAD

RALIGH, N.C.--The Food Animal Residue Avoidance Database (FARAD) will keep its doors open, pending the vote of the Senate and, ultimately, President Clintons signature.

At presstime, the last remaining source of funding for FARAD--a $285,000 line item in U.S. agricultural appropriations big (H.R. 4461) --was passed by the House of Representatives. Congressional leaders were optimistic that they could bring the agriculture bill to a final vote by the close date of Oct.14.

Following congressional approval, President Clinton is not expected to veto any part of the bill, according to Dr. ...
