Alexander Hamilton said of the Electoral College's method of choosing Presidents: "[I]f the manner of it be not perfect, it is at least excellent."

Whether it is "perfect"or even "excellent," the rules of the Electoral College are constitutionally mandated, and they were the ones governing the recent presidential election.
