On Columbus' radar of African Americans on the rise in politics, it's a home-grown man who's dedicated to serving the people and who keeps showing up.

City Councilman Kevin L. Boyce, 32, is no stranger to Columbus or politics -- he was raised in Linden, and attended Brookhaven and East high schools. After graduating from the University of Toledo in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in political science, Boyce served as chief of staff for the minority caucus of the Ohio House of Representatives, and has led the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus.
