I first started playing the Clarinet because my teacher, Paul Brodie told me that as a professional musician it would be expected that I should play it. I had been doubling on flute for a while, also at his suggestion, and I enjoyed that so I thought why not? I was doing a lot of jobbing and brought the clarinet along for practice. It started to sound okay so when I was called for a gig that might involve some jazz clarinet I brought it along. Everything was fine until I picked up the clarinet.
