During a recent appearance in Columbus on the campus of The Ohio State University, Tavis Smiley, popular talk-show host and commentator, shared his perspectives on race, politics, the state of the broadcasting industry, and a variety of social issues.

Speaking as part of the "Critical Issues" series of OSU's Hillel Jewish Student Center, Smiley described how he became the first African American to host his own signature show, "The Tavis Smiley Show," on National Public Radio.
