As we move rapidly into the 21st century, it becomes more and more difficult to grasp the content of history. France and UNESCO have devoted this fin de siède to the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery. Several conferences and festivals on the subject have already taken place in Guadeloupe, Martinique, France, and Senegal. Some of the themes involve the diaspora's lack of rapport with Africa, and the demands for an apology from those countries that took part in slavery and for financial and/or material compensation as reparation ...
