WHEN INTRODUCING her husband's work entitled Deprivation and Delinquency in 1983, Clare Winnicott wrote `It does not seem an exaggeration to say that the manifestations of deprivation and delinquency in society are as big a threat as that of the nuclear bomb'. It is important to note that she was writing before feminism had gained a firm foot-hold this side of the Atlantic but these words are being fulfilled today.
