Welfare To Work Public Forum Scheduled.

The city's Housing Authority has scheduled a public forum this week to discuss changes in the federally mandated welfare to work program.

According to the Housing Authority the new program, which takes effect March 3, helps "move (families) toward self-sufficiency through employment."

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, as the program is known, imposes a five year lifetime limit on cash assistance and a two-year period in which a person must become involved in part-time work or a work-related activity.
