Fort Dix becomes home to over 4,000 Kosovo refugees

Workers at Camp Dix wowed the Army in 1917 by constructing seven complete barracks on the new post in less than a day.

Almost 82 years later, workers at Fort Dix wowed the world by converting an entire barracks area into a safe haven for Kosovo refugees in less than four days.

"This is a real world mission that reflects what we do during mobilization, this is a good test of our capability," said Col. Jim Snyder, Fort Dix Commander. "We (Fort Dix) take great pride in being ready in four days to accept refugees. They are proud of their accomplishments and I am too."
