"WHAT'S in a name?" This book is really The Blackwell Encyclopedia of the American Revolution (1991), revised second edition. At least the new version, A Companion to the American Revolution, is more aptly titled, because neither work is encyclopedic nor authoritative, and both offer little more than a hodgepodge of superficial entries on various topics, few of which have any reference value.
