Tremella arachispora: a new species from Mount Cameroon

Summary. A new Tremella species (Basidiomycota, Tremellales) is described from Cameroon in West Equatorial Africa.

Whilst examining specimens for a paper on the heterobasidiomycetes of Korup National Park (Roberts 2001), an undescribed species of Tremella L. with unusual, peanut-shaped basidiospores was found among unpublished collections from Mount Cameroon. This new species is described as follows:

Tremella arachispora P. Roberts, sp. nov. Basidiomata gelatinosa, lobata, c. 25 mm lata, alba. Hyphae hyalinae, 2-5 pm latae, fibulatae. Basidia ellipsoidea vel oblonga, 13-20 × 8-11 µm. ...
