Multimedia or not to mutimedia? That is the question for students with learning disabilities

What kid or kid at heart would not be attracted to titles like these? The Ecotourist Game, Ahupua'a Adventure, and other intriguing programs are all multimedia learning materials (see box, "What Is Multimedia Instruction?"), and they are being used in many classrooms today. What do we know about the reliability and validity of such programs in the education of our children? Are they just attention-getting devices? Do they have any real educational purpose-and do they garner results in the form of student success-particularly for students with learning disabilities?
