Flathead group nets grant for waterway education

KALISPELL - Montana's only statewide philanthropic organization has provided a grant to the watchdogs of Flathead Lake's water quality, enabling them to produce educational materials for waterfront landowners.

The Flathead Lakers this month received a grant from the Montana Community Foundation, adding $700 to the Lakers' attempt to shore up streamside living know-how.

The Lakers have been working to encourage land stewardship and "best management practices" on property that fronts Flathead Lake and the tributary streams that feed it. The onthe-ground work includes protecting wetlands and f
