Scholars at UCLA Said Memorial Call for Palestinians to Write Their Own Narrative

"Carrying the Torch of His Legacy: the Mission, the Mind, the Man" was the theme of a Nov. 15 memorial honoring Edward Said and hosted by the United Arab Society of UCLA. More than 400 guests filled Schoenberg Hall for the event featuring three speakers and classical Arabic music. Najwa al-Qattan, Loyola Marymount professor of modern Middle East history, was the emcee.
