Eastern European cinema
|
The end of the Cold War and the emancipation of the former Eastern Bloc has renewed interest in Eastern European cultures. This course file provides a structure for a course that highlights the best cinemas of Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania
, and Albania. The cinema of Germany is not included, but it could be considered as well. The course has two goals: first, to acquaint students with the best in Eastern European filmmaking and, second, to enable them to better comprehend the specific cinematic traditions of the region.
