Madison offers residents amenities and convenience

MADISON - Not too long ago, the fastest-growing municipality in the state was little more than a strawberry patch. It wasn't until 1985 that Madison was upgraded from a town to a city. Now there aren't enough strawberries for every household.
In 1990, the population in Madison was 7,471. In 1998, the municipality had grown 69%, and boasted 12,618 residents. Known now as a bedroom community with upscale homes and strict ordinances, Madison gained a reputation as "strawberry capital of the world" after the Dr. H.E.
