Like Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt, Fort Wayne was strategically located at the junction of the three rivers. It's just that the rivers in question were the Saint Mary, Saint Joseph and Maumee rivers -- the present-day location of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Fort Wayne itself was named after a fort built by General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, who spent some time in Pittsburgh before heading west to fight the Native Americans after the end of the Revolutionary War.
