Sometimes life is good. Sometimes--not very often, but sometimes--everything works just right.
When that happens, it's like poetry.
Last week there was poetry. Solomon Burke, the legendary soul singer and archbishop of the nonsectarian House of God for All People's Church in Los Angeles, came home to Philadelphia.
His visit couldn't have been sweeter.
He arrived during a week when the Allen Iverson headache was still thumping in our heads and global warming was frying us into crispy critters. We were deep in need of his soulful blessing.
