CAMILLUS-From an unassuming start 124 years ago in a small upstate New York canal town, Camillus Cutlery has grown into one of the largest private cutlery companies in the world.

The Camillus Cutlery building in the village of Camillus was originally used as a grain mill along the Eric Canal in the early 1800s. As business on the canal slowed, entrepreneur Charles Sherwood decided to convert the mill into a cutlery company in 1876. A few years later, Adolph Kastor, a German immigrant, decided to buy into the small company and begin manufacturing high-quality cutlery locally rather than deal ...
