For Lauderdale, known worldwide for its wide variety of water activities and sporting events, celebrates its 75th anniversary of championship swimming this year. This rich history dates back to Jan. 29, 1928 with the grand opening of the Casino Pool on Fort Lauderdale Beach.
The construction of this facility, the first Olympic size pool in the State of Florida, was a mark of distinction for the Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department.
