MISSING FOREVER: A Chicago professor sets off for Vladimir prison in search of Raoul Wallenberg

Chicago Jewish Star | March 20, 1997| | Copyright

Thanks to Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List", millions of people learned last month -- or were reminded -- that there were individuals during World War II who risked their lives to save Jews. There were not many, certainly not enough, but there were definitely some who, for whatever reason, attempted to foil the genocidal Nazi plans.

In that dark chapter in human history there was perhaps no greater example of the altruistic personality than that of Raoul Wallenberg.

But unlike other cases, the end to the well-known story of the Swedish diplomat remains a mystery to this day.
