Factors Related to Student Persistence: Implications for Minority Students
Examining the research on student persistence in college is more critical now than ever, for a number of reasons. First, a college degree is practically a necessity in today's global economy for a person to earn a decent living. Second, overall degree completion rates in American higher education seem to be declining. And third, minority degree completion rates, particularly for Hispanic Americans and African Americans, lag far behind completion rates of Whites.
