THE ARTS: From Esthetics to Empowerment; The Getty Trust; New Projects Emphasize Multiculturalism

Oil magnate J. Paul Getty originally established the Getty Trust in 1953 as an endowment for a small Southern California museum devoted to Greek and Roman antiquities.

Today Getty Trust officials speak of a new mission for its seven realms, which now include the museum, five institutes, and a grant program.
