RECRUITMENT: National University; Reaching out to Hispanics.
As the Hispanic population of San Diego has continued to grow, National University, which specializes in adult education, recognized that it needed to reach out to more Latinos. Though Hispanics compose 19 percent of the San Diego county population and its proportion grew by 18 percent between 1990 and 1994, making it the fastest growing population in the county, only 11 percent of National University's 10,068 students were Hispanics.
