The White Knight of the Anti-Apartheid Movement: Donald Woods 1933-2001

In the language of Xhosa, Donald Woods was known as "Zweliyanyikima" -- the one who shakes the earth.

More than any other reporter in the Western world, Donald Woods employed creative advocacy journalism to attack South African apartheid. He was a magnificent force for change in South Africa's darkest hour. He died this past August in London of lung cancer. Donald Woods was 67 years old.
